James Nachtwey: Photographer of Wounds of Society

James Nachtwey: Photographer of Wounds of Society

James Nachtwey is a witness of the most awful and biggest crime in the human’s history. Ignoring the risk, he is not afraid to show his testimony to the whole world and intends to reach out every person in this world to face his evidence and never forget what he/she will see. James Nachtwey is a war photographer. You can write paper writing help articles about his life and work to find out from thesis writers that the most distinguishing feature of his works is that they are black-and-white.
The photographer was born three years after the World War II was finished. However, the memory of it was very fresh, and its bleeding wounds didn’t want to heal. Perhaps, it influenced the artist to become eyes of war, to record all the pain and horrors of this terrible event. During his long career, James Nachtwey witnessed more than ten wars. Afghanistan, Romania, Bosnia, Kosovo are just a few those conflicts. He gained a lot of awards for his works, five Overseas Press Club’s Robert Capa Gold Medals, etc. However, no award can fully honor his works. The black-and-white photography emphasizes the tragedy and grief of the people who lost someone during those wars. When I saw the photo “Mourning a brother killed by a Taliban rocket”, it seemed that I felt the deep sorrow, solemnity and despair of that woman . It seems that there is no light and colors in the world of the people who have suffered so much pain .
